What You Can Expect
Dr. MacIsaac believes in providing the highest standard of evidence based care supported by current research. In addition, he believes that clients should be “partners in care” and should play an active role in treatment decisions.
All new clients are seen for a consultation prior to undertaking any treatment and a referral is not required for this appointment. Children should be seen at a young age, so that potential problems are identified early. In fact, the American and Canadian Associations of Orthodontists recommend that children have their first visit with an orthodontist by the age of seven. If it is determined that a child is not ready to begin treatment, they will be placed on a continuing care program and will be seen on a biannual/annual basis to assess their growth and development. Of course, adult clients are welcome at any age, as it is never too late to undergo orthodontic treatment.
Once it is determined that the client is ready for treatment, photos, x-rays, and impressions of the teeth are taken. A comprehensive treatment plan is developed to address misaligned teeth and/or developmental problems using appliances, braces, headgear, and other methods. The client then returns for a case presentation. At this time, the treatment plan is discussed and questions are addressed. They are now ready to begin treatment. The length of treatment can vary depending on the individual, but on average takes approximately 18 months.
